Our Travels

Cuba (2018)

On 31st December 2018 we set off for two weeks in Cuba, organised for us by Rickshaw Travel.

Here is a video of our travels – actually it is our photographs – and it is about 30 minutes long. We visited Havana, Vinales, Las Terrazas, Playa Giron, Trinidad de Cuba.

Borneo (2019)

On 19th August 2019 we set off for a trip to Borneo again organised by Rickshaw. Here is a video of our travels – it is (sorry) about 45 minutes long.

Lapland – Arctic Circle (2021)

On 27th December 2021 we set off on a trip to the Lapland village of Abisko, 250 miles north of the Arctic Circle, ostensibly to see the Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis). The trip was organised for us by Weekend a la Carte and we stayed at the Abisko Mountain Lodge. The holiday included a hike through Abisko National Park and across Lake Torneträsk, the largest Lake in Scandanavia, an evening photographing the northern lights, husky sledging, snowmobile driving up a mountain, a divine five course (vegetarian) New Years Eve dinner and a visit to the Ice Hotel:

Every year, when Torne River turns to ice, a new Icehotel is created in the small village of Jukkasjärvi in the north of Sweden. The ice of the river transforms to design and architecture – an ephemeral art project and the world’s first, and largest hotel built of snow and ice.

The Story of Ice Hotel

Here is a 12 minute video of the trip, consisting of some 150 photographs.
